I've been to the brewpub quite a few times and agree 100%. They make some of my favorite beers, hands down. And yeah, great pizza, too!

I think it's clear that they aren't behind some kind of orchestrated marketing circus driven by artificial scarcity - I don't think anyone would make such a statement. It's just interesting that a few high-end, small-batch beers like PTY (and the Abyss, etc.) become these legends among the craft beer community. I don't question the quality of Younger (it might be the best imperial IPA I've ever had) like the author of the linked article, but I do wonder why certain high-quality releases get put on such pedestals.

And while fervor surrounding PTY is no intention of Russian River, it's still a case study worth pondering for anyone thinking about craft beer marketing. What lessons are there for breweries that are interested in growing their businesses?

Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo are both low key people passioanate about making great beer and running a great pub. They pay little attention to hype . Talk to the regulars at the Russian River Pub. It's a friendly pub where people can drink exceptional beers and eat great pizza and salads. Nothing pretentious, just quality and sincerity.
